Why is there an issue with partitioning internal SSDs, portable SSDs, and external hard drives on macOS?

Category : Setup / Operation

If the format of internal SSDs, portable SSDs, and external hard drives is exFAT, these drives cannot be partitioned under the limitation of the native mechanism of macOS.

Please convert your drives to APFS, and partition them by the method suggested by Apple Support via the link below.

https://support.apple.com/guide/disk-utility/add-delete-or-erase-apfs-volumes-dskua9e6a110/22.0/mac/13.0

If you require exFAT, please divide disks into partitions by the number you need through the above methods and format them to exFAT.
